Clothes can protect your skin against the sun’s harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. Look for sun protective clothing, hat, and polarized sunglasses.
Sailing is a wonderful sport that can provide you with a lifetime of entertainment. Don’t worry if you haven’t tried sailing before, there is plenty of help on-hand, guidance, and instruction at the Dome Marina Sailing Centre. We’re a friendly bunch.
Not sure what to wear?
Be prepared to get wet. Wear something that is comfortable but not too baggy. Trousers should be flexible and light weight.
Trousers and shirts shouldn’t have a lining. You will get wet, so you want your sailing clothing to be easy to get into and out of, as well as be fast drying. No denim.
SUGGESTIONS: Neoprene long sleeve tops to protect from sunburn. Longer shorts to protect knees from scrapes and bumps when moving in the dinghy.
Bring two sets of clothes; 1 set for sailing and 1 set to change into after your sailing lesson.
Bring a towel, or two.
Bathing suits are acceptable, but for sunning on the beach.
Please, no sandals or bare feet. Rubber-soled diving shoes are the best for dinghy sailing, or non-marking sail shoes.
During Egypt’s winter months (November through April), the temperatures will be pleasant, but it always feels cooler on the water. It is a good idea to bring an extra layer of clothing for the morning and evening hours.
