Clothes can protect your skin against the sun's harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. Look for sun protective clothing, hat, and polarized sunglasses.
Sailing is a wonderful sport that can provide you with a lifetime of entertainment. Don’t worry if you haven’t tried sailing before, there is plenty of help on-hand, guidance, and instruction at the Dome Marina Sailing Centre. We’re a friendly bunch.
Not sure what to wear?
Be prepared to get wet. Wear something that is comfortable but not too baggy. Trousers should be flexible and light weight.
Trousers and shirts shouldn’t have a lining. You will get wet, so you want your sailing clothing to be easy to get into and out of, as well as be fast drying. No denim.
Bring two sets of clothes; one set to sail in and one set so that you will have a dry change of clothes to change into after your sailing lesson. The Centre has changing rooms with shower facilities.
Don’t forget to bring a towel.
Bathing suits are acceptable, but only in addition to the above.
Please, no sandals or bare feet. Rubber-soled diving shoes are the best for dinghy sailing, or non-marking sail shoes.
During our winter months, though the temperatures will be pleasant, it always feels cooler on the water, so it is a good idea to bring an extra layer.
